I got the opportunity to bake for a friend's wedding this summer! It was a lot of fun and hard work! I'm so glad that I got to do it! Here are some pics of my experimenting and some of the desserts from the wedding!

Easy as Pie
Hands down, this is one of the best bakeries I've been to in Chicago....but some of that may be because I'm partial to a good flaky pie crust! Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits is recently new to the the Logan Square area. Previously, they had a food truck that they sold their delicious pies out of. All of their pies and biscuits are made fresh, from scratch. Chicago Tribune calls it the "Bakery of the Year" (Bangbangpie.com). I definitely recommend that you go grab a cup of coffee and a slice of pie! You will not regret it!

Lincoln Park Fun
Green City Market
Me and a friend decided to visit a local farmer's market in Lincoln Park! It was so fun looking at all the different varieties of fruits, vegetables, and the vendors' stands! I would recommend going to this market if you're in the area, or even visit a local market near you! It's a great way to use produce that you know is good quality, is grown organically, and is sure to be tasty :)!
This time around I decided to buy some peaches and plums to make a pie!
Gimme Some Sweet & Salty
We also visited a stand called Cookies and Carnitas that is new to the market! We're suckers for baked goods with bacon in it! The stand was sold out, which is no surprise! But we will definitely be stopping next week to get our cookies :)!
And the jam is pumpin" JAM TIME :)
Another stand called Leaning Shed Farm from Michigan sold heirloom veggies. We found so many unique flavored tomatoes! I decided to get a Pineapple Tomato! What exactly do you do with a tomato like this you ask? Make a jam of course! I like to live on the edge and be a little daring, so I made a Pineapple Tomato- Peach Jam with a hint of cinnamon! It actually turned out to be pretty delicious! My roomates and sister were kind enough to be taste testers for me :).

Summer Internship 2013
I've had so much fun this summer interning at Magnolia Bakery in Chicago on State Street! I've learned so much! I am so glad that I've been blessed with the opportunity to be at such a fun, welcoming, and innovative bakery! I hope you enjoy all my photos and come visit me at the bakery soon :)!
***All of these pictures are Magnolia Bakery's recipes and baked goods. None are my own recipes or baked goods.
I've been working on doing things production style during my internship:
Nilla Wafer Crusts for Magnolia's Ice Box Pies
Magnolia's Pecan Shortbread Crusts for the Jamboree Pies
Magnolia's Peanut Butter Cookie Dough (if you know me well, you know I could eat this by the spoonful ;) )
Magnolia's Snickers Ice Box Pies...Oh my word can I just say DELICIOUS! I may have just drooled thinking about these babies!
I can't forget to mention Magnolia's Peanut Butter Ice Box Pies! I could eat the filling alone and live happily ever after!
Magnolia's Blueberry Jamobree Pies: these pies have such a great balance between being light, but sweet enough in flavor, and have the perfect amount of texture contrasts!
Some of Magnolia's other fun baked goods I've made on my internship:
Chocolate Dipped Macaroons
Peanut Butter Toffee Bars! Holy Peanut butter...you have to try these!!
Marble Cheesecake Brownies
Mini Chocolate Pudding Pies
Banana Cream Pie
Chocolate Chunk Blondie
Lemon Bar
